My floral paintings reflect not only something visual but emotions and a deep connection to nature. I think I got this love from my Mum who always adored flowers and gardening.
I love the whole process of seeing my work emerge from a raw, black canvas, through to the finished painting. It gives me a great feeling of fulfilment and accomplishment. The heavy oil paints help me to sculpt flowers using a pallet knife and brushes, giving delightful tactile textures and deep hues of colour, through layering which adds energy and life to the composition.
